Missouri Western accepted designation as a Purple Heart University by the Military Order of the Purple Heart at a public ceremony in November.
The Purple Heart University designation recognizes Missouri Western’s commitment to supporting military veterans, especially those wounded or killed in the line of duty, and their families.
The Purple Heart Medal is awarded to members of the armed forces of the U.S. who are wounded or killed by an enemy combatant. The organization now known as the Military Order of the Purple Heart was formed in 1932 for the protection and mutual interest of all who have received the decoration.
