The Western League for Excellence is an honorary giving society for donors who give undesignated gifts of $100 or more to the Missouri Western Annual Fund. It is at the cornerstone of Missouri Western’s fund-raising efforts.
The League was established by the MWSU Foundation for the purpose of demonstrating appreciation to alumni and friends of the University who give undesignated gifts, as well as to promote the concept of such giving.
The financial resources received from these donors help provide funds for the Foundation’s projects in support of the work of the University. In addition, League members may demonstrate their interest in other ways. They stay informed about the progress at the University, promote the University among friends and potential students and, when possible, attend University events. A strong Western League for Excellence gives visibility to members’ support of the University, which often helps potential donors, faculty members, and students to have confidence in Missouri Western.

At Missouri Western State University, the arts are an essential part of the University’s mission, with an important role in the academic curriculum, extra-curricular life of students, overall development of all students, and contribution to the general quality of life in the regional community.
The goals of the Arts Society are to provide funding for invaluable learning opportunities that help prepare students for a post-graduation career or graduate school. Arts Society funds support the following:
- Visiting artists and Master Classes
- Programs to allow students to showcase their talents to our community
- Specialized equipment to learn technical skills in their artistic field
- Opportunities to attend performances, exhibits and other off-campus activities that enhance the student learning experience beyond the classroom
Arts Society members are encouraged to attend and promote performances and exhibitions. Members play a vital role in continuing the success of both arts students and arts programs.

The Gold Coat Club is the athletics booster organization of Missouri Western. Founded in 1969, the club raises funds to support the endeavors of the 17 sports programs and more than 400 student athletes at the University. Membership in the Gold Coat Club helps provide coaches and student-athletes with necessary resources to help Missouri Western compete at the highest level of NCAA Division II. Member support helps enhance team travel, recruiting, equipment, academic support and facilities.
